Firm projects huge economic gains in energy efficient data centre

A Data centre operator in Nigeria, KITS Technologies, has projected huge economic gains in the deployment of energy efficient data centre in the country. Specifically, KITS Technologies noted that data centre operators across Nigeria and west Africa stands to benefit if energy efficiency is adopted in their initial design concept or in their day-to-day best practice operational management, since following best practices cost nothing, once the “required skill’ is obtained.

According to the Director and Strategic officer, Mr. Taofeek Okoya in Lagos on Monday, data centre experts worldwide had observed that millions of servers are being run, managed and upgraded without being actively used on a daily basis. He said these unused servers consume hundreds of millions of dollars.
